Do you want your kids to speak Spanish? Teach them at any age even if you don't speak it with free online resources and encouraging environmental learning at home!I just started using these sites with my daughter and she's already recognizing some Spanish words! Next I need to do the labeling around the house!

Here's a great site and smart phone app to keep track of your family's nutrition, health and safety!

Food Essentials is a nutritional website that gives you information on more than 20,000 brand name groceries. Information includes UPC code, Nutritional label, Label information, Allergens it may or may not contain, Additives it contatins, Function each ingredient plays in the product (flavor, preservative, etc) and Any extra ingredients product may contain to help family members that are specially allergic to certain foods. The app scans the bar code of any grocery product and brings the information directly to your smart phone! Find out more and look at screen shots at the link below!

Ok so it looks like Toddler Academy will be starting in January 2011. Until I get enough enrollment, I'll be doing it from home. When I am able to open up 4-5 days a week with at least 5 kids per session, I'll start looking for a location to expand!

To start with, classes will be Mondays from 12-3pm, Wednesdays from 3:30-6:30pm & Saturdays from 11-2pm. **** Hours of sessions can change, depending on enrollment. If your needs are for earlier or later in the day, let me know and we can arrange something. I am open to allowing children to come early or stay late in order to accommodate parents and their schedules. ;-} The fee will be $25 per class and classes are geared towards children 1-5 years olds but children as young as 9 months are welcome. That's less than $10 a week and you're getting a former teacher & current deputy sheriff teaching your kids. I also speak fluent Spanish, am CPR & First Aid trained & have a Masters Degree in Education. You'll have a professional teaching your little ones instead of just "babysitting". Having a current clear active credential & being a deputy also means that I am cleared through the Department of Justice so you can be assured that your kids are safe with me.

Enough about me, what do the classes involve? Each week, there will be a lesson taught on animals, shapes, colors, body parts, greetings and manners. The lesson will be repeated the following week for review. We'll also work on fine & gross motor skills, basic keyboard skills while playing learning games on a computer and sitting down & listening to others in order to prepare them for preschool and/or kindergarten readiness. Activities will be indoors and outdoors. We have Step 2 playground equipment with swings, a slide, club house & rope climb. We also have tons of books, manipulative & a playhouse for pretend play.

This is the ideal program for moms who want part time child care with academics in a secure setting. I was a teacher for almost 8 years and worked in education for more than 12 years so I'm looking forward to getting back into it now that I'm a mom while also teaching my own daughter! During my time in education, I taught grades 4th, 5th & high school English & Spanish along with preschool prep and kinder in the summers. I've been looking for a program or class that includes all of this but haven't found it so I thought I'd create my own since I have an education background, credential and Masters degree.

If you're interested, please contact me at info@toddleracademy.info. I'm also currently workng on the Toddler Academy website which will include pictures of our toddler room, play equipment, manipulatives & more. I look forward to hearing from you. As soon as I have 4-5 children per session I'll close enrollment & start creating class rosters with parent /child information.

Have a question for fellow moms out there.... in your opinion, how beneficial is it to be a stay at home mom or work from home in order to always have a parent with your children? Does it outweigh having the extra income that dual incomes provide? Is it just as good for the kids to have two working parents?
