My first face to face encounter with a SCV moms group...

So tonight I did something that was completely out of my comfort zone. I signed up for and actually attended a face to face get together with not only the creators of SCV Moms Blog but also other mothers that are participants in this website.

I will start by saying that anyone that has had the opportunity to go to one of these get togethers and not gone because you maybe felt you didn't belong or that you would be made to feel that way...big mistake...BIG BIG mistake. I can say that emphatically because I was one of those people and I forced myself to go and I can honestly say that I walked away from the little over an hour and a half meeting feeling in just awe of these remarkable women that live in our valley and contribute so much. They as a whole did not make me feel unwanted or unimportant at all. And let me say talk about smart women, whether it be book smart, or business smart...I walked away with such a WOW feeling. Kinda like "I am Woman hear me Roar!"

That being said the Hostesses Jackie and Andrea could not have been more gracious, kind or embracing. Jackie is a very engaging person, when she speaks you just stop and listen. Not because you feel like you have to but because you want to hear what she will say next. Andrea is very infectious with her smile and just soft spoken demeanor. All in all I am very glad that I decided to come out of my comfort zone. I am a very shy person until I get to know you, and this was the first time in my 41 years that I have actually walked into a room not really knowing a soul. Yes a few emails had been passed back and forth but nothing more than that...so realistically I felt like I knew no one...that might have been the way I felt walking in but it was definitely not the way I felt walking out. I really just want to say a great big thank you to the two women you created this safe haven for awkward moms like myself and also to the other women who were there tonight. All in all it was just a great experience for me and I am really glad that I atttended and look forward to attending many more of these in the future.

There is a Moms' Empower hour at Vino 100 March 21st from 4-6 pm. There may also be another one of these get togethers next week, I can keep you posted if you like?
